Former Nebraska Cornhuskers Coach Contract Details Revealed

If that picture for this article doesn't perfectly encapsulate Scott Frost's tenure as head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, I don't know what does.

It was tumultuous to say the least, and Frost's tenure ended with the coach holding a 16-31 record with the program, spanning from 2018-22.

After a break from coaching in 2023 and a stint with an NFL organization in 2024, Frost is returning to the sidelines for the upcoming season. His new role is one he held before, returning to the UCF Knights to serve as their head coach. It is a position he held from 2016-17, leading the program to a 19-7 record in that time.

The details of Frost's new deal with the Knights have been released, and it is evident that they wanted him back in the fold. It is a five-year, $22.1 million contract that starts at $3.9 million with annual increases until it tops out at $5 million for the 2029-2030 campaign.

The former Cornhuskers quarterback will earn an additional $75,000 for reaching a conference championship game, $50,000 for winning a conference title, $100,000 for appearing in a College Football Playoff game and another $100,000 for winning a CFP game.

Frost's best season as the head coach of a football team came in 2017, when he led UCF to a 13-0 record. While the Knights did not make it into the College Football Playoff, they claimed a national title, despite the very real possibility of being boat-raced by any playoff team they would have faced that season.

While Frost was a problem for the Cornhuskers for a few years, he is back at a place where he's won. He thrived as a Group of Five coach and was just not able to repeat that success with a Power Four team.
