Every once in a while Mike Tannenbaum will throw out something on ESPN that reminds you why he's no longer a GM in the NFL.
Today was one of those days.
During a segment on "Get Up" this morning, the former Jets general manager put forth a bold prediction that Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love will walk away with MVP honors in 2025. But as talented as Love is, he's not exactly on the shortlist of elite NFL quarterbacks that will almost assuredly be in the running.
"I love Love," Tannenbaum said. "Jordan Love will win the MVP. Look, you take away three or four throws from last year, he was right there. I love Matthew Golden he was my favorite receiver in the draft last year. Great route runner, great hands... this team will score and score often. This is Jordan Love's year."
"Jordan Love will win the MVP [this season]."

It's unclear what three or four throws Mike T was referencing in his take but they probably wouldn't have been enough to unseat Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson or Saquon Barkley on last season's ballot had they gone the other way.
Love is the triggerman of a team with one of the most exciting futures in the NFC and its very possible that his time is coming down the road. There's just some things that the 26-year-old still has to clean up before he proves to be an MVP-caliber, or even Pro Bowl-caliber player.
Jordan is coming off a year in which numbers took a bit of a step back, but largely would've been the same had he competed in all 17 games.
The Packers rewarded him with a four-year, $220 million contract extension last summer — and he'll look to reward the franchise's massive investment by taking another leap in '25 (just maybe not an MVP one).
