Former NFL player Sergio Brown has gone missing after his mother, Myrtle Brown, was found dead. According to a report from CNN, the woman died from injuries that occurred in an alleged assault.
Police located the body of Myrtle Brown, 73, near a creek outside her home in suburban Chicago. Authorities were called when friends and family were unable to contact Myrtle or Sergio.
According to CNN, the cause of death was ruled a homicide.
“My brother Sergio is still missing,” Nick Brown wrote on Instagram. “If anyone knows where he is I want him to know that I love you and please come home.”
Brown played in the NFL from 2010-16. He was a member of the New England Patriots (2010-11), Indianapolis Colts (2012-14), Jacksonville Jaguars (2015) and Buffalo Bills (2016).
Prior to playing in the NFL, Brown attended Notre Dame.
