Former NFL cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges he was hit with following his arrest last weekend, according to TMZ Sports. Jones is currently facing three charges – one count of assaulting a police officer, one count of public intoxication and one count of disorderly conduct – after officers say he was causing a disturbance outside a bar in Northern Kentucky on June 7.

Police claimed that Jones showed signs of intoxication and was “screaming obscenities” at officers. When police arrested him and took him to a nearby jail, Jones allegedly elbowed an officer in the face.

“The Covington Police Department takes incidents of this nature very seriously. We are committed to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of all who live in or visit Covington,” the department’s release read. “Adam Jones is being held to the same standard of conduct as any other individual in our community.”

A rep for Adam “Pacman” Jones denied the allegations this week. “Adam did nothing wrong other than exercise his right to ask why he was being detained,” the rep said in a statement. Jones is due back in court in early July.

Looking at Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones’ NFL career

Jones is no stranger to run-ins with the law. In 2021, the Atlanta native pleaded no contest to two counts of misdemeanor assault after an altercation at a Cincinnati bar. He spent 18 days in jail for the incident.

Last year, Jones was arrested at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, after getting into a fight at the stadium’s bar area following the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson Boxing match. He was charged with one count of assault on a peace officer, one count of public intoxication, one count of evading and one count of resisting arrest.

Jones played in the NFL from 2005 to 2018 and spent time with the Tennessee Titans, Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos. In his career, Jones recorded 17 interceptions, 96 passes defended and two interceptions returned for touchdowns. He was named to the All-Pro First Team in 2014 and the Pro Bowl in 2015.
