A Pittsburgh Steelers legend reportedly has his eyes on coaching in the college ranks. Kordell Stewart, who starred for the Steelers from 1995-2002 as a do-it-all athlete and dual-threat QB, is keeping his options open as he looks to mentor young men hoping to make it to the next level.

Stewart was an outstanding college football player at the University of Colorado before being taken in the second round of the '95 draft and playing 11 years in the National Football League.

Across his decade-plus run in the NFL, "Slash" went 50-34 as a starter and made a Pro Bowl in 2001 as a unique talent that could not only play quarterback but line up at running back, wide receiver and punter as well.

Now according to football insider Josina Anderson, Stewart could be on the verge of returning to the state that helped grow his game — only this time it would be on the sideline.

Kordell Stewart looking to coach college football

Per a report from Anderson on Tuesday: "I’m told former #Steelers #Ravens #Bears QB & Colorado Hall of Famer Kordell 'SLASH' Stewart has retained Young Money APAA Sports for his representation as he pursues a collegiate head coaching opportunity."

"Sources say there’s interest in the open Colorado State job, & that Stewart has already assembled a veteran staff of prominent NCAA & NFL coaches," she added.

Stewart recently signed on as a volunteer offensive coordinator at South Forsyth High School in Georgia where he made his intentions clear.

"I thought this would be a great challenge,” Stewart told Forsyth News. “I want to use my experience as a player, like they are now, to now become a coach and take in all of those concepts and ideas."

Fans excited Slash's possible career change

"Love this for him! Hope he gets an opportunity," a user said.

"Let’s go! Love this for Kordell," another replied. "He’d be the best thing to ever happen to CSU."

"That’s awesome !!!!!" a fan exclaimed.

"Slash going to his rival school after years of Colorado disrespecting him would be legendary," Michael Beck posted.

"This will be great for CSU and the guy helped change my football program in two years we went to the State Championship. CSU would sell out," another person commented.

Slash was one of the most exciting players of his era and someone that remains beloved in many football circles. It would definitely be cool to see him try his hand at coaching at the CFB level — even if it's with one of his alma mater's biggest rivals.
