It's been a busy pipeline for Ohio State stars moving to Pittsburgh ahead of this coming NFL season. The Buckeyes have seen three former stars relocate to the Steel City, with quarterback Will Howard and defensive end being drafted on Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft.

This weekend, running back and NFL veteran Trey Sermon added to the Buckeye pile in town. They all join longtime franchise hero Cam Heyward as a representative of the Ohio State brand.

Sermon shared his excitement about the opportunity to compete in one of the weakest backfields in the NFL on Twitter/X.

Sermon has only found moderate NFL success across stints in San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Indianapolis. He's totaled 505 rushing yards, 22 receptions, and 138 receiving yards through four seasons. He was drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft after an incredible three-game run toward the end of the previous season.

He joined the Buckeyes from Oklahoma for his senior campaign. He had four decent games in the odd COVID-affected season, but he hit a new high at the right time.

Sermon ripped off a three-game stretch that ultimately defined his short tenure with the program. Because it was a shortened season, he played in only eight games. But his run against Michigan State, Northwestern, and Clemson was legendary.

His yardage totals in those games were, in order: 112, 331, and 193. He carried the Buckeyes to the National Championship, where they were throttled by Alabama.

That said, watch this video and remember how fun it was for this random transfer addition to break out on a national stage.
