Former Ohio State Star Has To Retire From His NFL Career Earlier Than Expected In A Tragic Way

Ohio State has been one of the best schools in the country in producing NFL talent. You turn on the NFL Draft every year and see Buckeye after Buckeye gets selected. For one, Ohio State player saw his dream come true when the Cincinnati Bengals selected him with the 21st pick in the 2018 draft, but sadly, his dream ended over the weekend.

Billy Price Was A Star At Ohio State

Billy Price was the starting center for Ohio State from 2014 to 2017 after redshirting in his freshman season in 2013. Price helped lead the way on the Buckeyes’ 2014 National Championship-winning team and started 55 consecutive games, setting a Buckeye record.

The Austintown, Ohio native was highly valued coming out of college in 2018 and spent three seasons with the Bengals before spending time with the New York Giants, Arizona Cardinals, Las Vegas Raiders, and New Orleans Saints and last season on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad.

Price Retired From The NFL Over The Weekend

Billy Price took to his Instagram account on Saturday and stated he had an emergency pulmonary embolism surgery on April 24th to remove a saddle clot that was entering both of his lungs. And will be retiring from the NFL as the risk of an internal bleed while on blood thinners created a tremendous risk.

You never want to see someone have to walk away from the thing they love for a horrible medical reason, and hopefully, Price stays healthy. Every Buckeye fan can’t thank him enough for all the great memories he made when he was holding down the offensive line almost a decade ago.
