Former Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz to sign with Chiefs
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has found a new home.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Kansas City Chiefs are signing Wentz to a one-year deal.

Wentz, 31, was initially selected by the Eagles with the No. 2 overall pick in 2016 NFL Draft. He played six seasons with the Birds before he lost his starting job to Jalen Hurts and was traded to the Indianapolis Colts in 2021.

After one subpar year in Indy, the Colts sent Wentz to the Washington Commanders where he was benched for Taylor Heinicke and released after the 2022 season.

His most recent stop was with the Los Angeles Rams, whom he signed with in Week 10 last fall. He ended up starting LA's regular-season finale against the San Francisco 49ers, completing 17 of 24 passes for 163 yards with two touchdowns. He added 56 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Through eight NFL seasons so far, Wentz has completed 62.7% of his passes for 22,292 yards and 153 touchdowns with 67 interceptions.

He joins a gritty Chiefs team that will be on the hunt for their third-straight Super Bowl ring and will back up Patrick Mahomes.
