The Philadelphia Eagles lost a beloved member of their community. According to a report by TMZ Sports, Kevin Johnson passed away.

The 55-year-old, who also played for the then-Oakland Raiders, died of undisclosed reasons.

He was born and raised in Southern California, and played collegiately at Los Angeles Harbor College and Texas Southern. The New England Patriots took him No. 86 in 1993, but they released him before he played a single snap.

It took him two years to make his way to the Eagles. There, at defensive tackle, he logged 19 tackles, six sacks, a fumble recovered, and a defensive touchdown in 11 games in his first year with the team. The following season, he made 12 appearances and logged 14 tackles and one sack before ultimately being released.

Johnson then played for the Raiders before leaving for the Arena Football League. He won a title in 1998 with the Orlando Predators.

The Philadelphia Eagles May Hire A Surprising Offensive Coordinator

It’s been an eventful couple of days for the Eagles. On top of Johnson’s passing, they’ve also been involved in the coaching carousel.

They lost Christian Parker to the Dallas Cowboys, and Brian Daboll and Mike McDaniel withdrew from their offensive coordinator vacancy.

According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, they could set their sights on Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady:

“The coach I’d monitor who could still be a potential big swing is Joe Brady. He’s a candidate to remain in Buffalo and also interviewed for the top jobs in Arizona, Baltimore and Las Vegas. However, if he becomes available, he’d be the one I would target,” Russini wrote.

While he won’t have Josh Allen there, he’s already done more than enough to draw consideration for high-end positions like this.

“It helps to have an MVP quarterback, although he’s lacked high-level talent at receiver and has been creative with different packages. He’s been at or near the top of the league on third down and in the red zone, in explosive-play rate and drive-score rate. This is moot if he gets a top job. If the Bills go in a different direction and Brady becomes available, he’d be a smart hire for the Eagles,” she concluded.

The Eagles could reportedly target a QB in the 2026 NFL Draft. Whatever the case, they clearly have plenty of things to fix on offense.
