Former Pro Bowler Has High Expectations for Bengals Wide Receiver Ja'Marr Chase

The Bengals' offense is expected to take a big leap this season after adding multiple linemen and star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase in the 2021 NFL Draft. 

Former Pro Bowl running back Maurice Jones-Drew thinks the 21-year-old wide-out could have an historic season for the Bengals. 

^{"I think Chase is the real deal. It's not that I think it, I know it," Jones-Drew said on NFL Network. "For him [Burrow] to have his No. 1 receiver now, you lose A.J. Green, you get this young man in there, 1,400 (yards) doesn't seem that farfetched. I think that he may go for 1,400 or 1,500 this year and I wouldn't be surprised with it at all."}

Those are high expectations for Chase, who believes 1,500 yards and touchdowns is a realistic goal for his rookie campaign. 

Bill Groman set the record for most receiving yards (1,473) by a rookie in 1960. Chase's former college teammate and current Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson is second after finishing with 1,400 yards last season.

Jones-Drew believes Joe Burrow and Chase could have an even bigger impact than Kirk Cousins and Jefferson had on the Vikings' offense in 2020.

^{"This is a passing league and the Cincinnati Bengals, they're going to throw it all around the yard," Jones-Drew said. "If you look at the teams they're going against, the Cleveland Browns are trying to revamp their defense, the one defense that you would say to be scared about would be the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they lost Bud Dupree, so in this situation I think they have an opportunity to do it."}
