The Dallas Cowboys have a new need that has become a reality. After Cooper Rush decided to leave the team to sign with the Baltimore Ravens, the Cowboys badly need a new backup quarterback behind Dak Prescott.

As of right now, Will Grier would be the primary backup in Dallas.

How could the Cowboys move forward and find a quality piece who could step in and win football games if Prescott goes down with an injury? There are a few routes to choose from.

One former NFL quarterback has spoken out and revealed one of those routes. He thinks the NFL draft could be the best course of action for Dallas.

Chase Daniel, the former quarterback and current analyst, suggested that the Cowboys take a look at two intriguing quarterbacks in the 2025 draft.

He believes that both Kyle McCord and Jalen Milroe should be targets for Dallas.

Rush played in 12 games last season after Prescott went down with his injury. In 2023, he played in seven games and he played in nine during the 2022 season.

Prescott has missed time with injury and the Cowboys should anticipate that happening in the future as well.

Milroe would be a very intriguing option. He had a down year with the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2024, but still threw for 2,844 yards, 16 touchodwns, and 11 interceptions with a 64.3% completion percentage. In addition, he racked up 726 yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground.

McCord, on the other hand, completed 66% of his passes for 4,779 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions last season at Syracuse.

Either quarterback could be a perfect replacement for Rush in Dallas.
