Former Raiders LB to Join Saints Coaching Staff

The Las Vegas Raiders have been a struggling franchise since the team moved back to Oakland in 1995. They've had only five winning seasons in the last thirty years, and no playoff wins over the last two decades, but that has not stopped the team's players from succeeding elsewhere in the league or during their post-playing days.

Guys like Charles Woodson and Rich Gannon have become analysts, Richard Seymour became a minority owner of the franchise, and some have joined the coaching ranks. Former Raiders linebacker Kyle Wilber  was named  the assistant special teams coordinator for the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday.

Wilber played 10 NFL seasons, primarily as a core special teamer, so his role with the Saints makes perfect sense. He spent six seasons with the Cowboys and four with the Raiders before retiring after the 2021 season.

The linebacker never played more than half of his team's defensive snaps in a season, and only three times did he play more than 7% of them. He was an ace on special teams and still racked up 153 career tackles.

He spent the last two seasons working as the special teams quality control coach for the Green Bay Packers under his former coordinator and interim head coach Rich Bisaccia. Now, he'll accept a promotion and work under another young head coach in Kellen Moore.
