Former Saints third-round pick Tre'Quan Smith is on to a new team, as he has reportedly signed a reserve/future deal with the Detroit Lions. Smith reunites with Dan Campbell and moves on from Denver after spending last season on the practice squad. He only played in one game for the Broncos after joining them on Oct. 3.

Smith's training camp was an odd one for the Saints last August, as he was missing in action and no one really knew what was happening. He even made the final roster and was placed on injured reserve on Sep. 9, but was eventually released on Sep. 26. The former 91st overall pick from the 2018 draft lost reps and his role to players like Keith Kirkwood and Lynn Bowden Jr.

Smith just turned 28 in January and could fit in well with Ben Johnson's offense, being primarily known for his ability as a run-blocker. Detroit will look to prove that last season's run was not simply a 'Cinderella' story.
