Steelers WR Diontae Johnson called for QB Mason Rudolph to start in Week 15. Now, another Steeler wants to see what the fifth-year quarterback has, and maybe the rest of the way.
Former Steelers QB Kordell Stewart told Pittsburgh's 93.7 The Fan "if Rudolph starts and plays well vs. the Panthers, he should continue to start, even if Pickett is cleared to play the following week."

Thoughts?
Stewart's take on the Steelers' quarterback carousel may come as a surprise. Rudolph's conservative play hasn't been well-received through his time in Pittsburgh. He's been a healthy scratch in most games this year.
Biggest misconception: Mason Rudolph AIRS the ball out. No he doesn't. His yards per attempt in his career is LOWER than Kenny Pickett. Rudolph is a captain checkdown. And has always played that way. The numbers don't lie.

Rookie QB Kenny Pickett is in the concussion protocol for the second time this season. If there is worry surrounding a potential third concussion, you could make an argument for Rudolph to start the rest of the regular season.
However, if Pickett is the future, every rep is valuable. We've probably seen all that Rudolph has to offer through almost five seasons as well. Is there more we need to see from him?
Mason Rudolph could throw for 400 yards and 4 TDs Sunday and I would still go back to Kenny Pickett as soon as he's cleared to play. Mason has no future witht the Steelers. Kenny is the future. The QB who will lead them back to the Super Bowl.

Rudolph, who's on a one-year deal with the Steelers, may just get his chance to play in Week 15. If he does, it could be his last chance to make a case for himself in Pittsburgh.
