Former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has a take on Aaron Rodgers vs. Patrick Mahomes that is sure to turn heads

Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers are two of the best to ever play the position of quarterback, and honestly, to ever play in the NFL.

Player for player, it's far from an easy comparison when you just measure tangible traits compared to a resume.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has a clear favorite, however, and it's created quite the stir...

Big Ben would take Aaron Rodgers over Patrick Mahomes in his prime

“I would take Aaron (Rodgers) in his prime over Patrick (Mahomes) now," Ben said on his podcast Footbahlin. "Pat, he’ll go down as another arguable GOAT. I think Aaron in his prime is better . . .

". . . I think you'll get a better Aaron this year. Just because the thought process of the Achilles, 'what can I do, what can I not do?' I don't think he'll think about it at all.”

It's easy to be a prisoner of the moment and forget that Aaron Rodgers is a four-time MVP, who many believed to be a better pure player than Tom Brady when both were in the league. There were throws and plays he made that simply no one else could. Perhaps some of those still exist. The Steelers hope so.

But Patrick Mahomes does much of the same, and some would argue better. He is already a three-time Super Bowl champion and one of the best to ever play, and he has yet to turn 30 years old. That caused some to lash out at Ben and his take...

"Big Ben hates. One thing about Big Ben, you play 18 years, you have no All-Pros, not one, not one first team, not one second team, said former Pitt Panther RB LeSean McCoy. "This is just me, I don't respect players that talk about greats a certain way and you have nowhere the type of success they had. You played for 18 years, and you never was considered the best quarterback or the second-best quarterback in football.”

A bit of an aggressive take, I guess you could say Ben did more than turn heads with his take.
