Former Steelers WR George Pickens shows his true colors after blasting Pittsburgh in a profanity-laced social media comment

George Pickens was and is a lot of things regarding his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers

Reserved is certainly not one of them.

Unafraid to share his opinion, Pickens attempted to explain why he’s no longer in Pittsburgh, only making matters worse for himself...

George Pickens calls outs Steelers organization

“They the cheapest organization,” Pickens wrote in an Instagram comment. “Ain’t no stacking year after year they gone let them [expletive] go too soon as it’s time Lmaoo.”

Pickens would then fire back at the fans who called him out for said post, claiming that AI (Artificial Intelligence) was responsible for the outburst...

"Literally on a plane. No service. Just landed and seen straight lies from Pitt fans. Stop with AI trying to make a story. I’m happy for everything the Steel City did for me. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there"

A first for me, typically when something like this happens, players will opt to say they were hacked, if not just apologize or own up to the matter. To claim AI was responsible is both hilarious and on brand for George Pickens.

Pittsburgh is certainly one of the more frugal organizations. They don’t employ a ton of coaches, they still share a facility with the Pitt Panthers, and the team has been hesitant to pay stars and keep talent in the building in the past.

But the team also just traded for DK Metcalf before inking him to a massive contract extension. One that pays him top 5 money at his position before he ever put on the Black and Gold.

Pickens wasn’t traded because they wouldn’t pay two WRs. He was traded because Pittsburgh wouldn’t pay a second wide receiver who struggles to even show up on time to games, much less practices and meetings.

They wouldn’t pay someone who they know they can’t trust now, much less when he cashes in a on a second contract that would likely total over $100 million.

So Pickens can call the Steelers cheap all he wants. And the decision to move on at this particular time is not immune to criticism on the Steelers side of things. But some self-awareness from Pickens would probably help here, the same way it would have helped during his three years in Pittsburgh.
