Fans can't say that former Tennessee Vols standout Cedric Tillman doesn't back up his promises. The VFL banked on the Vols defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide last weekend and did what many in the NFL do - make a friendly bet with their teammates on the winner.
Unfortunately, things didn't go Tennessee's way in a 37-20 loss to their primary rival. The Vols' sloppy 37-20 loss put Tillman in the situation of having to do the uncomfortable - sport Alabama Crimson Tide gear.
His Cleveland Browns teammate and Alabama football alum Jerry Jeudy posted a picture on Instagram of Tillman in Alabama gear head to toe.
Tillman isn't the first Vol to lose such a bet, and he won't be the last. However, Tennessee players have had quite the run of success in similar bets over the years. Recently, Joe Milton got the better of Dallas Cowboys teammate and position mate Dak Prescott after Tennessee beat Mississippi State, with the latter donning Milton's Tennessee jersey on the way to New York to play the Jets. Other victims have been Oklahoma's Creed Humphrey against Trey Smith and Jerod Mayo against Jacoby Brissett.
Tennessee alums in the NFL will get more chances this year with big games remaining against Oklahoma, Florida, and Vanderbilt. We'll see if the current Vols can give their NFL brethren some bragging rights towards the end of the season.
