Former Tennessee Titans great retires from the NFL with a special shoutout for Nashville
USA TODAY Sports

In today's NFL, star players come and go every off-season. Gone are the days where players spend their entire career on the same team. But sometimes a player, even in a matter of just a few short seasons leans into a city and makes his presence felt in a way that is truly special. That's what Logan Ryan was to Nashville and the Tennessee Titans from 2017 to 2019.

From the establishment of his local Ryan Animal Rescue Foundation to helping the Titans to their only three playoff wins in the last 20 years, Logan Ryan was truly a Titans great. Today, Ryan announced he is retiring from the NFL. And as a part of that announcement, he had some words specifically for the Titans and Nashville.

"Thank you to the Tennessee Titans, for bringing me down there, becoming a franchise player. And honestly, supporting [Ryan Animal Rescue Foundation], my animal foundation, was birthed there. And you guys took that in. And we did so much on and off the field with playoff runs."

Logan Ryan shared positive words about every franchise that brought him in, but that just speaks to the quality of person that Ryan is. Titans fans will surely always look back fondly on Ryan's time here in Tennessee. Not just because he was a great person off the field, but because he was a dominant force on the field too.

In 2017, Ryan defended 11 passes, forced a fumble, and tallied over 60 tackles, playing 85% of the teams snaps despite missing a game in his first year with the team. Then in 2018 he stepped into a more versatile role, even finding success rushing the passer, adding four sacks and another five QB hits on top of his nearly 80 tackles on the year. But his truly amazing season came in 2019.

Ryan led the team in both tackles (113) and passes defended (18). He finished fourth in sacks (with 4.5). And of course, Ryan picked off his former teammate Tom Brady for a walk-in pick-six touchdown to seal the victory in the Wild Card round of the playoffs.

Logan Ryan will always have a home in Nashville for his contributions both on and off the field. We wish you the best in your next chapter, two-six.
