One of the most beloved quarterback-wide receiver connections in Tennessee Volunteer history is having a reunion in the Bay Area.
Per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Josh Dobbs is signing with the San Francisco 49ers on a one-year deal.

With $2.25 million being fully guaranteed, the Niners are pretty well committed to Dobbs for the 2024 season.
The signing will reunite Dobbs with one of his receivers from Tennessee in Jauan Jennings. Dobbs and Jennings connected for a number of electric plays in Knoxville in 2016. Most notably was the Hail Mary against Georgia - or the Dobbnail Boot (a crack back at UGA announcer Larry Munson's "hobnail boot" call of UGA's win over Tennessee in 2001) where Jennings leapt high over a host of Georgia defenders in the end zone to literally snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

Dobbs and Jennings also had a memorable touchdown connection earlier that year against Florida in the Vols' 38-28 win over the Gators. Jennings took a ball in stride from Jennings, tiptoed in bounds, and streaked for a 67-yard touchdown.

For one more year, those two will share at least a practice field together.
Jennings earned plenty of acclaim last month in Super Bowl LVIII. He threw for one touchdown and caught another and had a strong claim to Super Bowl MVP honors before the Kansas City Chiefs rallied to win in overtime.
As a result, the 49ers made a strong move to prevent Jennings, a restricted free agent, from leaving by placing a second-round tender on him. In other words, any other team that signs him would have to fork over a second-round pick to the Niners to do so. As such, it appears very likely he'll be staying put for the 2024 season.
It's Josh Purdy's team in San Francisco. However, for one more year, Tennessee fans can enjoy two of their favorite former Vols being teammates again once more.
