Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings receives much deserved accolade from Pro Football Focus

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings, a former Tennessee Vols standout, received a much deserved compliment from Pro Football Focus this week.

Earlier this week, PFF named each team's "secret superstar" from the 2024 season.

Jennings was PFF's choice as the 49ers' secret superstar.

From PFF : As the 49ers endured another injury-ravaged season, Jennings was a consistently good force at wide receiver. His 83.7 PFF receiving grade ranked 17th among receivers with 50 or more targets, while he was also 14th in yards per route run (2.26). Jennings proved his mettle as a blocker, too, with his 74.8 PFF pass-blocking grade the eighth-best mark among receivers. Given that San Francisco may shuffle the deck by trading a player like Deebo Samuel, Jennings will continue to be a focal point in 2025.

Jennings was easily one of the 49ers' most important players in 2024. San Francisco dealt with injuries to a couple of their top players -- running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk -- and it was Jennings who stepped up to fill some of the void in production left behind by those players.

The former Vol finished the 2024 season with 77 receptions for 975 yards, and six touchdowns (all career highs) in 15 games.

If not for getting ejected in the 49ers' final game of the 2024 season, Jennings would've recorded his first career 1,000 yard season.

Jennings, who signed a two-year extension with the 49ers worth $15.4 million before the 2024 season, is finally getting the national recognition that he's deserved since his days at Tennessee.
