San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings, a former Tennessee Vols standout, inadvertently ended up in the middle of a big NFL controversy this week.
On Tuesday, 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk requested a trade after failing to work out a contract extension with San Francisco ahead of training camp.
Jennings, who received an extension from the 49ers earlier this offseason, posted a message on his Instagram story that many folks interpreted as being directed at Aiyuk.
"You got to be different type of person to act like you’re doing everything by yourself knowing dang well you not," wrote Jennings.
On Wednesday, Jennings took to Instagram to clarify that his comments weren't about Aiyuk, writing that he would never "diss" Aiyuk.
Jennings also questioned what's wrong with the internet (good question, Jauan).
Jennings is the type of player that's incredibly focused on nothing but winning. It's hard to imagine him getting in the middle of a teammate's contract drama.
I think fans, and the media, often forget that football players have things going on in their life outside of football. You know, like any other person on the planet.
