Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings landed on an appropriate list that was put out by Pro Football Focus on Wednesday.

PFF named the most underrated player on each NFL team and Jennings was their choice for the San Francisco 49ers.

From PFF: Jennings came into the 2024 season facing a crowded depth chart in San Francisco, between Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel and even 2024 first-round pick Ricky Pearsall, not to mention the added target competition of George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey.

Despite all odds, Jennings established himself as a top option on offense, ranking in the top 20 in PFF receiving grade (83.7), receptions (77) and yards per route run (2.26) in the regular season among qualifying wide receivers. Thanks to his most recent season, the former seventh-round pick is now in a prime spot to continue his stellar play in 2025.

Jennings, a seventh round selection by the 49ers in the 2020 NFL Draft, has been underrated since his days at Tennessee.

The former Vol isn't going to wow folks with his speed, and he doesn't possess DK Metcalf-like athleticism, but there's likely no one in the NFL that plays harder than Jennings on a play-by-play basis.

Jennings is finally starting to get the recognition he deserves, but he's still a far better player than he gets credit for being.

The Tennessee native should get a chance to continue to prove his worth in the NFL in 2025 as he'll be counted on by the 49ers to be a top option in the passing game after the franchise moved on from star wide receiver Deebo Samuel earlier this offseason.
