Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings is in danger of missing a second straight game for the San Fransisco 49ers.
Jennings missed the 49ers' game against the Kansas City Chiefs last week due to a hip injury that he sustained earlier this month.
On Thursday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that Jennings is doubtful for this week's game against the Dallas Cowboys.
The news wasn't all grim, however, for Jennings.
Shanahan also noted that he doesn't consider Jennings an IR candidate and he expects the former Vol to return to action following the 49ers' bye week (San Francisco has a bye after their game against Dallas).
"No, he's not an IR candidate," said Shanahan when asked about Jennings. "Expect to get him back after the bye week. Haven't ruled him out yet for this week, but definitely would say he's doubtful. But I'd be surprised if he won't be back after the bye week."
With wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk sidelined for the rest of the season with a torn ACL, Jennings should be a key contributor for the 49ers down the stretch.
Jennings has 25 receptions for 404 yards and three touchdowns so far this season.
