It's been a rough past few days for former Texas Longhorns coaches.

Just a day after former running backs coach Stan Drayton was fired as the head coach by Temple, FAU opted to pull the plug on the Tom Herman experience. A decision that comes after Herman had only been at the helm for one full season and 10 games in 2024.

The news was reported by 247Sports on Monday, and following FAU's loss to Temple. The loss dropped FAU's record to 2-8 on the year, with Herman's overall record in Boca Raton finishing at at an abysmal 6-16 with no signs of improvement.

After finding success at Houston, Herman was hired to be the Texas head coach in 2017. He ended up being fired following the 2020 season after being able unable to take Texas to the next level.

His tenure in Austin was filled with the program underachieving despite recruiting well, which was evident in Steve Sarkisian's first season at the helm. Despite the firing, Herman will likely land on his feet as analyst or offensive coordinator.

Herman then spent a year with the Chicago Bears as an analyst before taking a year off from coaching.

Chad Lunsford is expected to replace him as the interim coach.
