Former Titans GM Jon Robinson might have his next NFL job
George Walker IV / Tennessean.com / USA TODAY NETWORK

Former Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson is still without an NFL job, but that may not be the case too much longer.

Monday is the infamous Black Monday, where multiple coaches across the league will lose their jobs for various reasons. It's a rough day that reminds everyone of the harsh reality existing within the league.

It's wild to think New England Patriots head coach, Bill Belichick, could certainly be on the list of names let go once the season ends Sunday. That relationship seems to have run its course as the Patriots are on track to finish the year with a top-3 pick. It's the first time they've had a top-6 pickĀ since they drafted Richard Seymour with the sixth overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft.

But, it's not all said and done. There's a world where he remains the Pats head coach and the serious conversations surrounding these ideas reportedly begin on Monday when Belichick and owners Robert Kraft and Jonathan Kraft meet to discuss potential options.

And, per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, Belichick could convince the Pats to keep him by bringing in a "true general manager", allowing Belichick to focus more on the week-to-week football strategy.

And, in quite the twist, former Tennessee Titans general manager, Jon Robinson, would be an option for the GM job.

Belichick, who is said to want to keep coaching, could enter the meeting with a plan to fix the team and passionately explain why he is the one to do it. That might include altering the personnel department and hiring a true general manager. David Ziegler, the former Raiders GM and Jon Robinson, the former Titans GM, would be two options who have ties to the Patriots if that's the direction it heads. Such a move also would allow Belichick to focus solely on coaching. - Ian Rapoport, NFL.com

Robinson's return to the Patriots would certainly kill a chunk of the Mike Vrabel rumors

Like Belichick, there are a ton of rumors and speculation surrounding Titans head coach, Mike Vrabel. One of those rumors is trading Vrabel to the Patriots after Belichick is out of the picture.

Robinson reuniting with the Patriots would kill that rumor, completely. You obviously can't have two head coaches on one team but even it develops into a situation where Belichick is let go and Robinson stays - there's basically zero chance Vrabel and Robinson would work together again.

Either way, Robinson falling backward into another GM job would be quite the development, in itself. We'll see if anything ever comes out of this.
