Former Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher and former Titans running back Eddie George were mentioned this week as potential options for a college head coaching job.

Sports Illustrated college football insider Richard Johnson mentioned Fisher and George as potential options to replace Rock Stockstill as the head coach at Middle Tennessee State.

MTSU parted ways with Stockstill on Monday. The former Florida State quarterback had been the head coach at MTSU since 2006.

From SI.com: Former Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher, now in the USFL, could make the move to college. Fisher had been a rumored option for USC in the past, and spent a year as an advisor at Tennessee State where he worked with his former All-Pro running back Eddie George. George, who is currently head coach at TSU, could also be an option for the Blue Raiders. Former Charlotte and Austin Peay head coach Will Healy, currently an offensive analyst at UCF, is another name to note.

Fisher is currently serving as the chief advisor for the relaunch of Nashville's arena league team, the Nashville Kats.

George, meanwhile, just completed his third season as the head coach at Tennessee State, going 6-5 in what his first winning season with the program.

Fisher was most recently the head coach of the USFL's Michigan Panthers in 2022.
