Former Titans Wide Receiver Had Strong Reaction to Will Levis News

The Tennessee Titans selected Will Levis in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft with the intention that he would become their franchise quarterback. After two short seasons, however, that proved not to be the case, and the team drafted his replacement in 2025.

With rookie Cam Ward now expected to be the starter in Tennessee, Levis opted to undergo shoulder surgery, which will cause him to miss the entire upcoming NFL season. Former Titans wide receiver Nate Washington responded to the news with skepticism.

"That Levis decision/timing was intentional! Not gonna get me to believe anything else….. #Titans," Washington wrote.

While it is difficult to ascertain exactly what Washington is hinting at, it is clear that he, and many Titans fans, feel that Levis decided to get his shoulder surgery late for a self-serving reason.

This could be that Levis was hoping to find a trade partner, which would not have materialized with him on the sideline. Another fan theory has been that Levis is trying to get back at the Titans for giving up on him by leaving them high and dry before training camp.

There is no way to prove any of this, but the Titans are now in a predicament. The backups behind Ward are not desirable, as veterans Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle will be No. 2 and No. 3 on the depth chart, but they have a combined record of 2-13 as starters in the NFL.

Head coach Brian Callahan and general manager Mike Borgonzi were not in Tennessee when the Titans drafted Levis, but they gave him a fair chance to lead the franchise out of the darkness in 2024.

Unfortunately, he went just 2-10 as the starter and threw just 13 touchdowns compared to 12 interceptions and fumbled 10 times and took 41 sacks.
