Nearly 10 years, ago four-star star quarterback Jarrett Guarantano picked the Tennessee Vols over the Ohio State Buckeyes.
As 2024 comes to an end, Guarantano is once again picking the Vols over the Buckeyes.
Guarantano, a former four-star recruit who committed to Tennessee over Ohio State in 2015, joined TPL Tennessee this week to discuss the Vols' College Football Playoff showdown with the Buckeyes.
The former UT quarterback told show host and (former Georgia quarterback) Aaron Murray that he thinks Tennessee will win a close one against Ohio State.
"I think I'm going to go 23-20, a lot of field goals being kicked in the first half," said Guarantano. "But 23-20, low scoring battle, defenses are going to play well. We're (Tennessee) going to be able to pull it out."
Former Vols linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr, who was teammates with Guarantano for three seasons at Tennessee, also told Murray on TPL Tennessee that he thinks UT will beat OSU on Saturday night in Columbus.
"Final score prediction? I'm saying 24-17 Vols," said Kirkland. "Vols by a touchdown in a close battle."
Murray, who was 4-0 as a starter against the Vols, mentioned that he'll be rooting for Tennessee against Ohio State because he always pulls for SEC teams in the postseason.
Tennessee and Ohio State kick off at 8:00 PM ET on Saturday night. The game will air on ABC/ESPN.
