Fournette Shares Shocking 4-Word Message
Jim Dedmon — USA TODAY

Four seasons ago, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers added Leonard Fournette to an already potent offensive arsenal at the time commanded by quarterback Tom Brady. Fournette found a resurgence with the Bucs, helping the franchise to a Super Bowl LIV victory.

That came after losing his spot with the Jacksonville Jaguars where he posted two 1000-yard campaigns in three seasons. He would add two more seasons of at least 600 yards in Tampa Bay.

But the Bucs parted ways with him following the 2022 season and he has struggled to maintain his ground in the NFL since then.

He appeared in two games for the Buffalo Bills in 2023 though he spent most of his time on the practice squad. In 2024, Fournette could not find a spot on any roster across the league.

That is what makes his bold 4-word prediction from Sunday afternoon a shocking one, posting on X: "I will be back playing next year and starting....... 7."

Earlier this season, Pro Basketball Hall of Famer and media personality Shaquille O'Neal clamored for the Dallas Cowboys to bring on Fournette to fix their backfield woes. Jerry Jones and crew were not takers for his advice.

Focusing on Fournette's lofty aspirations, it is unlikely he makes a return at this point and the chances of him earning a starting gig are even slimmer.

He is just a few days from turning 30 and his absence from the league heightens the concern of his ability to compete at a high level ahead of the 2025 season.

If somehow he manifests a return to the league, it would be an impressive feat. Most likely, it will not happen with his former team who has found a promising young back in Bucky Irving, leading a top five rushing attack in the league.
