Fox Makes Unexpected Drew Brees Decision Amid NFL Season
Matt Krohn-USA TODAY Sports

Legendary New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees had an unbelievable career in the NFL. He made 13 Pro Bowls and won Super Bowl XLIV MVP for the Saints. In 20 seasons, Brees threw for 80,358 yards and 571 touchdowns with 243 interceptions.

He retired after the 2020 season, and on Nov. 7, the 46-year-old was announced as the newest member of the Fox Sports NFL coverage crew. He is joining the likes of Tom Brady and Greg Olsen as an analyst for NFL games.

Brees' debut with the network will come this weekend, when the Green Bay Packers take on the New York Giants on Sunday.

On Thursday, Fox made another decision on Brees' 2025 NFL coverage. According to Front Office Sports reporter Michael McCarthy, Fox will allow Brees to announce one of Netflix's two games it will air on Christmas Day.

Before joining Fox, Brees had previously struck a deal with Netflix to be an analyst for Netflix in its special production during the holiday. This decision strictly goes against Fox's ban on its on-air talent working for competitors.

"As part of Netflix’s Christmas Day doubleheader, Brees is set to call Lions-Vikings with Noah Eagle of NBC Sports at 4:30 p.m. ET," McCarthy said. "Ian Eagle, Nate Burleson, and Matt Ryan of CBS Sports will call the Cowboys-Commanders game at 1 p.m. ET.

After retiring from his playing days, Brees joined NBC as a game-day analyst, but he only lasted the 2021-22 season with the network.

The future Pro Football Hall of Famer's debut for Fox will come on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium for the matchup between the Packers and Giants.
