Michael Strahan became one of the best players in New York Giants history during his 15-year NFL career. From 1993 to 2007, the Hall of Fame defensive end recorded 141.5 sacks, the tenth most in league history, including a single-season record 22.5 sacks in 2001. He capped his career with a Super Bowl win before retiring.
Shortly after his playing career, Strahan stayed close to football, joining Fox Sports for its weekly pregame show, “Fox NFL Sunday,” alongside Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long. And it has been a busy Week 13 for the crew, traveling to Detroit for the Lions vs. Packers Thanksgiving matchup before returning to Los Angeles for the regular pregame show on Sunday.
During Sunday’s show, former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman discussed the tight NFC West race as the regular season enters its final stretch. Edelman noted that it will be a close battle and playfully compared it to an intense game of musical chairs.
"You know it's tough, because once you start going into the back part of the season with all these NFC West teams start playing each other, you know the music stops," Edelman said. "There's not going to be a chair to sit down on."
Strahan appreciated the musical chairs comparison, joking that he had to “stop playing that when his butt got a little bigger.” Fox Sports posted a clip of Edelman and Strahan's interaction, commenting on Strahan's "retirement" from the game.
" @michaelstrahan had to retire from musical chairs ," NFL on Fox wrote on Instagram.
Strahan and the crew, which now includes Rob Gronkowski following Jimmy Johnson’s retirement, will continue their season ahead of Week 14’s slate of games next Sunday. But Strahan will stay busy before then, returning to host ABC’s daily morning show “Good Morning America.”
