Fred Warner delivers message to fans as 'dream' career with 49ers continues

Fred Warner secured his future with the San Francisco 49ers this week by signing a three-year contract extension reportedly worth $63 million. After putting pen to paper, Warner delivered a heartfelt message to fans, expressing his excitement about continuing his journey with the team that drafted him in the third round back in 2018.

"Faithful, hey, we're here to stay, baby," Warner said in a video posted to the 49ers' social media. "It was a dream when I got drafted here in 2018, and it's still a dream to this day. And, man, I know we've been through some great times these first seven years, but the story is only beginning, and we know what we're after. Let's go chase it. Let's go get it."

Warner and the 49ers remain focused on capturing the franchise's elusive sixth Super Bowl title. The team came painfully close in the 2023 season, falling in overtime in Super Bowl LVIII.

Last year, injuries significantly derailed the 49ers' 2024 season, resulting in a disappointing 6–11 finish.

"Fred's leadership is exemplary and his approach to his craft is contagious," general manager John Lynch said via a statement. "Fred sets the tone for our entire team with the consistency, speed and physicality with which he plays.

"Off the field, his passion, energy, and professionalism are second to none and truly embody what it means to be a Niner. We are extremely proud to get this extension done and lock Fred in for the future."

Despite a major roster overhaul this offseason, the 49ers secured three of their foundational players with long-term deals. Alongside Warner's extension, which makes him the highest-paid linebacker in the NFL, the team locked in quarterback Brock Purdy as the highest-paid player in franchise history and George Kittle as the league's highest-paid tight end.
