Free-agent DT P.J. Hall suspended one game following arrest

Defensive tackle P.J. Hall is back in the headlines ahead of the weekend, but it isn't because the free agent found a new NFL home.

According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, the NFL suspended Hall for one game on Friday. The league's punishment follows news from June that Hall had been arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge and a charge of interference with public duties.

Hall played for the Houston Texans in 2020 and accumulated 34 total tackles and one sack across 10 games before he suffered a torn pectoral that prematurely ended his campaign. The 26-year-old underwent surgery to fix the setback in December, and the Texans ultimately placed a second-round tender on him but later withdrew the offer worth $2.183 million.

Hall originally joined the league when the then-Oakland Raiders selected him in the second round of the 2018 draft. Williams adds that Hall worked out with the Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals this summer, and CowboysSI.com reported Hall also had a workout with the Dallas Cowboys in August.

He never caught on with any of those teams and remains available.
