Free-agent RB Devonta Freeman visits New York Giants

Hours after the New York Giants confirmed that superstar running back Saquon Barkley suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's 17-13 loss at the Chicago Bears, Albert Breer of NFL.com reported that free agent and former Atlanta Falcons ball-carrier Devonta Freeman visited with Big Blue.

Freeman, who turned 28 years old last March, visited the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday but left that club without a deal. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2015 and 2016 when he rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of his best seasons with the Falcons.

Atlanta released Freeman in March after he averaged a career-low 3.6 yards per carry on 184 attempts during the 2019 campaign.

Without Barkley, the Giants have journeyman Dion Lewis and unproven 25-year-old Wayne Gallman in the backfield. The Giants averaged a league-worst 52 rushing yards in their first two losses this month.
