Front-runner emerges for Raiders HC job

Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady couldn't contain himself during the Fox broadcast of the NFC Championship Game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams.

Brady gushed about the offensive plan Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak drew up in Seattle's 31-27 win. Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold threw for 346 yards and three touchdowns. Seattle added another 75 yards on the ground to make the Super Bowl.

Per Connor Hughes of SNY, Kubiak is the front-runner for the Raiders head coaching gig. Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur appears to be leading the race to become the next head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.

"Other coaching front-runners at the moment, per sources: Kubiak to the Raiders & LaFleur to the Cardinals," Hughes posted on X.

Kubiak's ascension in Las Vegas's hunt comes as the Seahawks are preparing for their most important game of the season. Seattle will play the New England Patriots on Feb. 8.

Klint Kubiak has a lot on his plate before taking the Las Vegas Raiders HC job

Kubiak will have a lot to juggle in the next two weeks if the Raiders want to hire him.

Earlier in January, Kubiak said his priority is to try to win a Super Bowl with the Seahawks, per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

“There’s a lot going on, it was on a couple of our days off, which was perfect timing, then right back to business,” Kubiak said of his interviews," via Smith. “They were good conversations. Very flattered for that opportunity. But we’ve worked our entire season, our whole lives for games like this. This is the most important thing.”

Kubiak would have plenty to offer the Raiders in 2026. Las Vegas has the No. 1 pick and is expected to think hard about drafting Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza.

Kubiak proved his worth by leading the Seahawks to the Super Bowl with Darnold. He'd be the perfect fit if the Raiders want to draft a quarterback like Mendoza.
