While speaking to reporters, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said how impressive Bailey has been during training camp and that the rookie has lived up to expectations.

“Yeah, he’s everything that we expect him to be, and it’ll be really exciting once we get the pads on,” said Glenn. “I think we all understand that through these acclimation days, we’re still in shorts, but just to be able to see the energy and the speed and the quickness off the edge, and the ability to hold a strong edge and the way that he wants to play the run game, it’s everything that I imagined from that player.”

Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood also praised Bailey's early impact during training camp.

“I think Bailey’s a phenomenal pass-rusher,” Sherwood said. “He’s a great person, and, as always, I’m excited to have anybody on the team, but he’s one person who stands out. From the way he walks, talks, and the way he approaches his workday in and day out as a rookie, I’m excited to see what he does this season.”

Bailey already standing out in camp

It's certainly a good sign if you are a fan of the New York Jets that Bailey has already impressed Glenn during training camp.

Bailey is coming off a monster 2025 season at Texas Tech, which elevated his draft stock and ultimately made him the No. 2 overall pick.

His athleticism and speed off the edge are among the traits that made him one of the top prospects in the 2026 NFL draft, and they should help a Jets team that struggled to generate a pass rush last year.
