To put it lightly, the New York Jets offense doesn't feature a bevy of playmakers, which makes Saturday night's injury update a much-needed sign. Garrett Wilson , the team's top receiver, should be back on the field against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
"Jets WR Garrett Wilson, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a knee injury that sidelined him the past two games, is expected to play vs. the Browns, per source," ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter wrote Saturday night on X.
Wilson signed a four-year, $130 million contract extension in July, boosting him into the ranks of the league's highest-paid pass-catchers. He'd expressed a desire to be a "Jet for life" in May before re-upping with the team. Head coach Aaron Glenn's arrival helped change Wilson's outlook after he showed frustration last season.
However, things haven't panned out as he'd hoped, with the team sitting at 1-7 and having just shipped off now-former franchise cornerstones Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams.
Through six contests, Wilson has posted his best receiving yards per game total (65.8) as a pro. He currently has 36 receptions for 395 yards and four touchdowns. Each of those totals paces the Jets, with rookie tight end Mason Taylor being the next closest with 29 grabs for 242 yards and a touchdown.
The next-most productive Jets wideout is Josh Reynolds, who only has 11 catches for 101 yards.
Wilson was a 1,000-yard wideout in each of his first three NFL campaigns. George Sauer (1966-68) is the only other Jets player to post three consecutive 1,000-yard efforts.
