Garrett Wilson Reacts to Justin Fields’ Big Move to Jets After Their Time at Ohio State

After several key moves in the first few hours of NFL free agency, Sam Darnold started the quarterback dominoes by agreeing to a deal with the Seattle Seahawks. Not long after, Justin Fields, who had been rumored to possibly return to Pittsburgh to stay with the Steelers, signed a two-year contract with the New York Jets in a significant development.

Fields' deal is valued at $40 million, with $30 million guaranteed. He now reunites with his former Ohio State teammate Garrett Wilson, with whom he formed one of the best quarterback-wide receiver duos in country. They spent two seasons together in Columbus.

It didn’t take long for Wilson to react after the news went public. The Jets' wide receiver commented on a post from a fellow Ohio State alum, saying, "What u mad ab. U know what time it is." Wilson also shared the NFL’s announcement of Fields' signing on his Instagram.

Last season, the New York Jets had one of the most underwhelming seasons in the league, falling short of the high expectations set at the start of the year with Aaron Rodgers returning healthy for his second season.

However, things didn’t go as planned, and the Jets finished with a 5-12 record. This led to the hiring of new head coach Aaron Glenn and the decision to move on from Rodgers in free agency, despite him having one year remaining on his contract.

Additionally, the Jets released star wide receiver Davante Adams, who signed with the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night. The team’s direction has become clear: they’re focusing on building around their young and emerging talent like Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, and now Justin Fields.

Under Glenn's leadership, the Jets are aiming to right the wrongs of the last decade-plus and return to prominence—something they haven’t experienced in quite some time. The franchises last postseason win came in 2010.
