There are growing indications that the Las Vegas Raiders are hoping to draft former Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty with the No. 6 pick. General manager John Spytek recently said that he believes running backs are valuable, and Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz reported that a lot of people in the building are sold on Jeanty.
It appears that the feeling could be mutual. Jeanty has been open about his interest in getting drafted by the Raiders, but they could be chalked up to them simply being the team most often linked to him.
However, it looks like if he had his choice of any team, he'd still like to end up in Las Vegas, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
“I’m hearing that Jeanty is in play for the Raiders among a few options,” Fowler said on a recent episode of ESPN’s "NFL Live."
“They’re also looking at offensive tackle, potentially, but there’s some momentum around the Raiders and Jeanty. I’m told that Jeanty would love to play for the Raiders. They are atop his wish list as far as what the player wants. We’ll see what the team wants.”
There's certainly a good chance that Jeanty gets his wish, but the Jacksonville Jaguars could be a team to watch. Fowler noted that they could also be eyeing Jeanty at No. 5.
The running back was born in Jacksonville, Florida, so it would be a bit of a homecoming for him. That said, it looks like he has his heart set on Las Vegas. Time will tell if the Raiders feel the same way.
