Geno Smith hypes up exciting wide receiver prospect

The Las Vegas Raiders have high hopes that quarterback Geno Smith can guide them to better results this season.

Acquired in the offseason via trade with the Seattle Seahawks, Smith now reunites with head coach Pete Carroll in Las Vegas. Smith enjoyed the best run of his career under Carroll, winning Comeback Player of the Year in 2022 and emerging as a legitimate starting quarterback in the NFL. Now paired with tight end Brock Bowers and running back Ashton Jeanty, Smith is expected to serve as the catalyst for a more explosive Raiders offense.

However, some of the national attention may be headed towards another Smith during the football season.

Geno Smith’s cousin was one of the best stories of college football last season.

In his freshman season with the Ohio State Buckeyes, wide receiver Jeremiah Smith was a revelation in Columbus.

Under new Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, Smith exploded for an astounding 76 receptions, 1,315 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. His emergence played a major role in Ohio State winning the national championship in the first year of the 12-team College Football Playoff. Despite the Buckeyes having another stacked roster, Smith is sure to make the lives of his new quarterback and play caller easier.

Geno cannot wait to see his cousin tear up the college football world again, putting up a two-word message on X to add to the hype train.

“All ball,” Smith said in response to some of the highlights surrounding Jeremiah.

Both face stern tests to start the new season. In Week 1, Geno and the Raiders head to New England to take on the Patriots in a game between two AFC teams on the rise. Meanwhile, Jeremiah goes to battle against Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns in late August.

The Smith cousins are certainly hoping for strong seasons, and their respective teams will be better off for it.
