Geno Smith reportedly re-signing with Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are reportedly re-signing their backup quarterback from the last two seasons.

The Seahawks traded nine-time Pro Bowler Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos in March and as a part of the blockbuster received 2019 second-round draft pick Drew Lock, who has gone 8-13 in 21 career starts, while posting an underwhelming stat line of 59.3% completion percentage, 4,740 passing yards, 25 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. Seattle has been rumored to be among the final potential landing spots for Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield (if he is moved), but with Lock and Smith now in the fold, that possibility appears to be dwindling.

Smith was selected by the New York Jets in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft and spent the first four seasons of his career with "Gang Green." Smith spent the 2017 campaign with the New York Giants and 2018 with the Los Angeles Chargers, before signing with the Seahawks in May 2019.

In 45 career games (34 starts), the 31-year-old has gone 13-21-0 and has produced a 58.8% completion percentage for 6,917 passing yards 34 touchdowns and 37 interceptions.
