George Kittle watched as the San Francisco 49ers' 2025 season ended with a divisional round loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He was sidelined after suffering a torn Achilles tendon in San Francisco's wild-card round win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
While dealing with several other injuries during the 2025 regular season, the tight end still appeared in 11 games, racking up 57 receptions for 628 yards and seven touchdowns. After speculation of a potential retirement, Kittle already revealed his intention to return for a 10th season with the 49ers.
While aiming for an early return in 2026, the five-time Pro Bowler will be joined by an exciting new offensive addition.
The 49ers were already tied seventh in total yards per game (351.4) last year, but that hasn't stopped them from upgrading the unit. While no free agency deal can be finalized until Wednesday, the legal tampering period opened on Monday, allowing contracts to be agreed to.
San Francisco made a big splash, agreeing to terms on a three-year deal worth up to $60.4 million with wide receiver Mike Evans, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Once news broke of the deal, Kittle reacted, saying, "Let’s goooo @MikeEvans13_ welcome to the BAY!!!!" on X.

Evans was one of the most experienced players set to hit the open market this offseason. With 866 receptions for 13,052 yards and 108 touchdowns over the past 12 seasons, the former Texas A&M Aggie has put together a career worth serious Pro Football Hall of Fame consideration.
While he only had 30 receptions for 368 yards and three touchdowns in 2025, his 11 straight seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards from 2014 to 2024 make him an exciting new target for Brock Purdy.
Evans' addition will also put less pressure on Kittle's eventual return, with the tight end welcoming his new teammate with open arms.
