George Pickens Misses Practice with Injury

Wide receiver George Pickens did not practice with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Wednesday, the first time he’s fully missed a practice since suffering a hamstring injury after practice on Thursday.

Pickens had been listed as limited in Friday’s practice and was considered questionable to play in Sunday’s 27-14 Steelers win over the Cleveland Browns. But he was unable to complete a pre-game workout at Acrisure Stadium and a subsequent MRI revealed a Grade 2 strain that will likely cause him to miss more time.

On Tuesday, head coach Mike Tomlin said to consider Pickens doubtful to suit up for the Steelers this Sunday when they go on the road to face the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Steelers practice outside in the snow at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex, so that may have contributed to Pickens being out, as opposed to being limited in an indoor practice on Friday. Wednesday practices are also generally more physical than those later in the week.

In addition to Pickens, safety DeShon Elliott and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi both missed practice with injuries on Wednesday. Veterans T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward, Najee Harris, Mike Williams, Isaac Seumalo and Patrick Queen were all given the day off.

Nose tackle Montravius Adams was once again a full participant in practice.
