Last season, Chicago Bears tight end Gerald Everett was brought in to be a notable pass-catching option for rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. However, Rome Odunze's addition to the receiving room made Everett a bit more obsolete, and now it appears Everett's tenure is coming to an end.
Per Everett, he has wished the city of Chicago goodbye. NFL insider Adam Schefter confirmed that Everett has been informed of his upcoming departure.
Chicago, it was brief and a learning experience but i appreciate the love the city and the team showed me!

Looking forward to the next chapter.
On to the next!
Everett originally signed for two years and $12 million, with the possibility of maxing out at $14 million. However, Everett only made it through one season and now will save the Bears $5.5 million entering 2025.
In 17 games, Everett was only targeted 13 times, hauling in eight of those targets for 36 yards. To say his tenure in Chicago was underwhelming is a gross understatement. But now, the veteran gets to move on as first-year Head Coach Ben Johnson looks to revamp this roster in year one.
Everett's departure likely means the Bears will be in the market for a second tight end now, either in free agency or the draft. Perhaps one of the top tight ends in this season's draft would look appealing to the Bears as one of their top picks.
