Gervon Dexter proves Chicago Bears allegiance after Packers loss

With their perceived “depth” across the defensive line, the Chicago Bears traded away Gervon Dexter Jr. prior to the season. Now, he is making an impact across the Atlanta Falcons’ defensive front.

On Thursday, Dexter and company faced off against the Green Bay Packers in a game they were considered heavy underdogs. And yet, the Falcons proved the NFL world wrong and came away with a 35-14 victory.

In the win, Dexter put up a pair of tackles and quarterback hits. Through his first three games in Atlanta, the defensive tackle has seven tackles, three QB hits and a half a sack. Now, Dexter has won his first game with the Falcons.

Despite his new surroundings, the defensive tackle was drafted and spent the first three years of his NFL career with the Bears. A part of Chicago will always be a part of him.

Playing on Thursday night, plenty of Bears fans watched their most bitter rival suffer a brutal loss. After the game, Dexter rubbed salt into the wound. He made his feelings on the Packers clear with a simple quote tweet.

While Dexter technically didn’t say a word, he message was clear. Despite playing in Atlanta, he still doesn’t think fondly of Green Bay. Any win against the Packers will still an important moment for the defensive tackle.

The Bears will hope to do their best Falcons impression in Week 5 at Lambeau Field. For the first time in a while, Dexter won’t be involved in the matchup. But the defensive tackle will still be watching intently.

Chicago has finally made a name for themselves in the NFC North. They are no longer laughing stocks and have gotten some revenge on the Packers in that regard. But for the Bears to really land the knockout blow, they’d add another loss to the Packers’ record.

Dexter wouldn’t be the only one talking at that point.
