Getting It Right
The new General Manager, Jon-Eric Sullivan, and the new head Coach of the Miami Dolphins, Jeff Hafley, were introduced today at the expected formal news conference.
A few things stood out to me as I heard this.
Jon-Eric Sullivan, or “Sully” as he likes to be called, has a driven, no-losers mentality.
And our new head Coach, Jeff Hafley, sounds like a take-charge guy who can hopefully change the often-very-softly-driven culture Mike McDaniel has built.
And “Sully”, let’s call him as he likes to be called, did not pilot an airplane into the Hudson River and saved lives.
Yet maybe he can pilot the Miami Dolphins into making wise draft decisions and begin, yes, I say, begin a new true team.
There is hope.
Not in the 2026 season, please.
Yet the great Don Shula led the low Miami Dolphins to a 10-4 record in 1970.
After a 3-10 record in 1969.
Maybe the 2026 season can turn this franchise around as the New England Patriots did, but it is obviously up to the quarterback you have.
And we do not have one right now.
That is a huge, maybe the biggest question that Sully and Hafley need to figure out.
Are they smart to do it?
Yes, I think so.
Can they pull off a trade for Quarterback Malik Willis?
That would be great, but it would take more money than we have.
But yeah, I am hopeful that Owner Stephen Ross finally has his General Manager and head coach on the same page, with a similar vision and goals.
We will see what happens, but I am truly looking forward to the 2026 season, with a hope I have not had in as long as I can remember.
