It sure seems like Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders thinks he’ll be suiting up for the New York Giants in 2025. Between meeting with New York during the week of Shrine Bowl practices and then teasing Giants fans during the exhibition, the interest is mutual and the hype has run rampant.
Of course, this move is still months away from coming to fruition and remains less likely than the discourse would suggest. With the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns picking ahead of New York, it’s possible things get messy in April.
But for now, it’s worth examining draft plans with a certain Colorado passer in mind. As such, the Giants reveal both a franchise quarterback and a Dexter Lawrence sidekick in this 2025 mock draft.
The following mock draft was made using Pro Football Network’s mock draft simulator.
Round 1, Pick 3: Colorado Quarterback Shedeur Sanders
At this point, Sanders needs no introduction. The son of Deion Sanders and battery mate of Heisman winner Travis Hunter, Sanders is almost as talented as he is polarizing.
Sanders’ arm borders on passable, and he isn’t an elite athlete. But he’s incredibly turnover-averse, has good instincts out of structure, and remains accurate to every level of the field.
He may not be the kind of prospect that headlined the 2024 NFL Draft, but there’s enough to pin hopes on, especially with a strong supporting cast.
Round 2, Pick 34: Ole Miss Receiver Tre Harris
Helping flesh out better offensive infrastructure means continuing the trend of polarizing prospects.
Harris won’t light up your favorite athleticism metric with his work at the Scouting Combine. He’s not the class’ top route runner and he doesn’t boast freakish size.
And yet, his production has been a runaway train that has helped elevate his draft stock. His yards per route run is out of this world, and few have posted more yards after the catch per reception.
Harris boasts great hands in contested catch situations, a natural release package, and the ability to threaten downfield with elite speed. As a three-level receiver opposite Nabers, his physicality meshes well with Sanders and is an ample replacement for Darius Slayton, who seems to be destined for greener pastures.
Round 3, Pick 65: South Carolina Defensive Tackle T.J. Sanders
New York wants to win in the trenches, especially with its pass rush. General manager Joe Schoen extended Lawrence, traded for and signed edge rusher Brian Burns, and took Kayvon Thibodeaux with the fifth pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
The next step is adding a defensive tackle who can consistently take advantage of Lawrence’s attention as a pass rusher.
Sanders, although a tad undersized, can win with speed-to-power rushes. He’s exceptionally quick and his athleticism gives him a leg up on finishing sacks against other interior lineman.
With high-level potential and a welcoming environment for a pass rusher, Sanders’ injection of athleticism can fill the biggest hole on the Giants’ defensive line with serious upside – without the cost of a premium pick.
