Cam Skattebo is hoping to put an injury-shortened rookie campaign behind him as he prepares for his second NFL season with the New York Giants. The former Arizona State star flashed his physical running style before suffering a serious lower-leg injury that prematurely ended his rookie year.

Skattebo recorded 101 carries for 410 rushing yards and five touchdowns, along with 24 receptions for 207 yards and two receiving TDs.

With John Harbaugh taking over as head coach, the Giants are expected to depend on Skattebo’s bruising style of play in 2026. New York views the 24-year-old as one of the building blocks of its revamped offense alongside quarterback Jaxson Dart and wide receiver Malik Nabers.

The Giants shared encouraging news on Wednesday as they begin preparations for the upcoming season. General manager Joe Schoen confirmed Skattebo is “good to go” for the opening practice of training camp.

The update marks another milestone in the running back’s recovery after months of rehabilitation and follows Schoen’s earlier offseason optimism that Skattebo would be fully recovered in time for football activities.

The update comes after another scare at Fanatics Fest on July 18 when Skattebo landed awkwardly while attempting a backflip. He later assured fans he was unharmed and expected to be ready for training camp, with Schoen telling reporters on Wednesday: “He knows we'd rather him not do that.”

The Giants open their 2026 campaign against the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium on Sept. 13.
