Giants DC Wink Martindale dismisses Eagles RB's 'Giant Killer' nickname

Boston Scott was the fourth-leading rusher on the Philadelphia Eagles this season and has only made 12 starts in his five-year, 60-game NFL career.
Whenever he plays the division-rival New York Giants, however, the running back seems to turn it up a notch. Despite his past success against New York, Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale isn't buying into the notion that Scott is a " Giant Killer."

Per StatMuse, Scott has run for over one-third of his 1,209 career rushing yards (414) against the "G-Men" on 86 carries -- good for a 4.8 yards per carry clip. He's scored nine of his 16 career rushing touchdowns against New York, including one in each of the last five contests dating back to November 2020 and in seven of his eight career games against the team.

Scott has done plenty of damage through the air in the NFC East battles as well, catching 17 of his 22 targets for 222 receiving yards and his only career receiving touchdown. The Eagles defeated the Giants in both regular-season meetings, with Scott rushing six times for 33 yards and a score in a December blowout (adding 117 yards off three kick returns) and nine carries for 54 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 18 victory.

Martindale's defense will of course have to focus on slowing down Pro Bowl quarterback Jalen Hurts and Pro Bowl running back Miles Sanders, but don't be surprised if Philadelphia gets Scott involved often during Saturday night's NFC divisional playoff game.
