New York Giants star defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence has sparked concern among fans after his reaction to rookie Jaxson Dart being named the starting quarterback.
After a rough loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3, Jaxson Dart is set to make his debut against the Chargers, while Russell Wilson has been benched.
With their season’s hopes already crumbling, Wilson’s performance against the Chiefs was the final straw after Dart had such an impressive preseason.
The New York Giants had always planned for Dart to take over at some point in the season, but a winless start has put GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll very much in the firing line.
While Jaxson Dart has given Giants fans some confidence in their future, the current situation at the franchise feels like it is a house of cards about to crumble, and Dexter Lawrence didn’t help that.
The Giants’ naming Jaxson Dart as the starter has taken the intense scrutiny off their disastrous Chiefs game plan. However, it has now placed all their season expectations on a rookie quarterback.
After moving on from Daniel Jones, who is flourishing at the Indianapolis Colts, and now Russell Wilson, the Giants are preparing to play with their fourth starting quarterback in under a year.
It was clear from the demeanor of Dexter Lawrence that the decision was pushing him close to the edge of his tolerance, as their season was thrown into chaos once again.
Speaking with the media, Lawrence said: “It ain’t my call, honestly. I’m just, I just, he’s my quarterback now, so I’m gonna be by his side and roll with him to the end.

Asked how he found out, he answered: “The same way everybody else found out!”
One fan responded: “Man, this Dart thing better work. Maybe he comes in and lights a fire under these vets and makes it fun to be a Giant again.
“If not, this whole thing will spiral, and this will be the last of Daboll, Schoen, and maybe even Dex as a Giant. We’re walking the finest of lines.”

Another commented on Lawrence looking very stressed: “I honestly had to look up DL’s age cause I was like man, I thought he was under thirty for sure, bro is only 27 looking 47. My guy is stressed with this franchise.”
One fan added: “He has checked out. Absolutely doesn’t want to be here.”
This NFL fan summed it up: “Trade request is coming soon.”
It would not be a surprise to see the Giants look to trade Dexter Lawrence in the near future, with it increasingly unlikely that Dart takes them to the playoffs from 0-3.
The Giants’ leash on Russell Wilson was always going to be short with Dart waiting in the wings, but few saw them deciding to do so after three weeks.
They have effectively waved the white flag three games into the year on their season prospects, and for a player of Lawrence’s caliber, that clearly hasn’t sat well.
The comments on social media are all calling for the Giants to explore a trade for Lawrence, and no team needs a defensive tackle like the Baltimore Ravens currently do.
Star DT Nnamdi Madubuike has suffered a mysterious neck injury that the Ravens still haven’t been able to disclose as of yet, despite it occurring during the win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 2.
After the Lions’ offensive line bullied the Ravens’ defense last week, it is now clear more than ever that if they want to win a Super Bowl, they need to address it. Who better than Lawrence?
